A climate-controlled facility for practice and training allows for uninterrupted, high-level preparation during all seasons. This multi-use space will accommodate outdoor sports such as football, soccer, softball, golf, baseball, and track and field with specialized netting and equipment, which will ensure NDSU student-athletes continue toward excellence.
Aldevron Tower, a 74,000-square foot expansion to Sudro Hall, brings all of the College of Health Profession’s academic programs together. This facility changes the way we teach future pharmacists, nurses, allied scientists, and public health professionals. In these spaces — simulation and assessment suites and concept pharmacy — students learn from each other as they practice team work and inter-professional team-based care.
When Ben Ellefson (Class of 2020, Sports Management) came to NDSU to play football, he knew it was a great opportunity, but he didn’t realize just how much support he would have as a student-athlete. “The constant support we get from the community is what really sets us apart from other schools,” Ben says. As the weather gets colder, he says having an indoor practice facility is crucial to the team’s success: “We practice or train almost every day, so having spaces that support that regimen, no matter the outdoor conditions, helps us keep getting better.”
Ben Ellefson, Sports Management (no. 82)As a fifth-year Doctor of Pharmacy student, Sabrina Wolfe (Class of 2021, Pharmacy) knows just how vital Aldevron Tower, the new addition to Sudro Hall, is to her program. It’s designed to give students an experience that’s as close as possible to working in a real integrated health care system. That means practicing emergency scenarios with simulated patients, advanced medical manikins, and an open lab environment that allows for more interaction with professors. These advances have led Sabrina to choose a more ambitious career path: “With everything I’ve learned, I’m really thinking of doing a residency in pharmaceutical genomics, which is the personalization of medicine based on genetics.”
